EraMED LLC, part of the SEACOR Holdings Inc. group, announced today that it has commenced operations with the completion of the acquisition of the air medical business formerly owned by Keystone Helicopter Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation.
As a result of the acquisition, EraMED LLC is one of the largest, most sophisticated air medical operations in the eastern United States. Operating from 30 sites located in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maine, New Jersey and Puerto Rico, EraMed will provide pilots, mechanics and maintenance support 24/7 for 35 highly complex twin turbine engine helicopters. EraMED LLC will operate as a sister company to SEACOR’s other aviation subsidiary, Era Helicopters LLC, which supports the oil and gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska, offers flightseeing tours in Alaska, provides environmental support, and leases helicopters to third parties around the globe.
Since 2002 SEACOR has substantially grown its aviation businesses, beginning with the acquisition of TexAir Helicopters Inc., and then the acquisition of Era Aviation Inc. followed by further commitments to invest in new aircraft. Ed Washecka, Vice President of SEACOR, said, “We firmly believe that EraMed offers us a great platform to develop our air medical business.”
